Chamorga

Chamorga - the end of the line

The road to Chamorga in the far north of the Anaga Mountains meanders along the TF123 from El Bailladero through forests of broom, erica and laurel. On the way there are some magnificent panoramic views.

At over 1,800ft Chamorga, with fewer than a hundred inhabitants, is the end of the line for those travelling by car.

If you you wish to go further, park between the small chapel at the start of the village and the village tavern.
Close by is a path leading into a forest of kite trees (or forest elder) that's really worth seeing. The area is famed for its varied flora and fauna.

Chamorga is the starting point for a number of walks. One, to the even smaller village of Roque Bermejo, takes about an hour. A steep footpath down through a ravine leads to a beautiful remote beach with a lighthouse.

Other walks from Chamorga take in the Cabezo del Tejo lookout point and Montaña Tafada and other remote settlements such as Lomo de las Bodegas and Las Casillas.

unique! never seen such a tiny village in the middle of the mountains. From Chamorga there start many paths to hike and take a walk.
