Los Cristianos is a popular destination for families with young children, principally because of its fine, golden sand beaches.

The town’s main beach was created artificially using sand from the Sahara Desert.

Los Cristianos was once a small fishing village and to this day retains its harbour, albeit much expanded to cater for the needs of tourists with activities such as big-game fishing.

Camel Park
A free bus service runs between Los Cristianos and the Camel Park, where the unsuspecting can discover exactly why camels are called ‘ships of the desert’. Anyone who’s ridden one will understand! Great for the kids. You can round off the trip with mint tea or an Arab meal.

AquaPark Octopus
The AquaPark Octopus water park (10am-6pm daily) is one the most popular attractions in the south of the island, with its water slides, tubes, pools, diving boards and dolphins shows. The park enforces high standards of safety and on-site facilities include restaurants and changing rooms.

Parque Las Aguilas
Just three miles from Los Cristianos, Parque Las Aguilas (Park of the Eagles) is one of Tenerife's best known attractions. Its vast tropical gardens contain a vast array of wildlife, with specimens ranging from a pygmy hippo to a magnificent white tiger. Other exotic species include oran-utans, red pandas crocodiles, penguins, and a large number of birds of prey, which combine to stage a spectacular flying display that features bald eagles, condor and an eagle owl. It’s a show not to be missed.

Cactus and Animal Park
Gardens specialising in plants from desert and other arid parts of the world. The inhabitants of the animal park are from similar regions, such as terrapins and marmosets. An Amazonia tropical rain forest area incorporates humming birds, parrots and many other exotic species.
Open daily from 10am-6pm. A free bus service to the park runs from Los Cristianos.

Jardines del Atlantico
Free buses run from Los Cristianos to nearby Busanada where the Jardines del Atlantico provide an excellent day out for the whole family. Included amongst the many tropical plants and trees is a model that explains why the island has a plentiful water supply.

Karting Club Tenerife
Five miles from Los Cristianos, the karting club has five different models of karts for children to experience on three different circuits. There’s a viewing terrace for mums and dads to watch the events. Afterwards the budding young Jensen Buttons can test their nerve with scalextric and a vriety of other competitions.
