 The village of El Poris de Abona is in on the Arico coast, one of the sunniest parts of Tenerife, yet it remains a quiet and relaxed place.
The stretch of coast is known for its sandy beaches, with Playa de la Punta, Playa Grande, Playa de Los Cardones and Los Abriguitos all just a short distance away.
The island capital of Santa Cruz is some 20 miles away and the busy tourist centres of Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas about 12-20 miles in the other direction.
There are no large hotels or discotheques in Poris de Abona but the little fishing village has plenty of small restaurants serving typical Canarian cuisine as well as tapas bars.
Poris de Abona has good bus connections with the rest of the island and the TF-1 motorway is also close by.
