The most beautiful beaches in the north of Tenerife
The northern part of Tenerife offers slightly smaller number of beaches than at the south. The north coast has a sharper line and in many places it forms beautiful cliffs.
However, Playa Jardin, which is a black beach close to Puerto de la Cruz town, belongs to the most famous on the whole island.
The black colour of the sand has the volcanic nature. Few people know that a direct skin contact with the black lava sand has an anti-rheumatism effect.
In consequence of Tenerife’s evolution, only a few natural beaches were formed. Due to the increasing number of tourists, the growing demand for public beaches appeared. Beaches created by men are the constant element of Tenerife landscapes. Created around the tourist resorts, they are of the best quality and cleanliness, with access to restaurants, bars and water-sports.
Playa de las Teresitas is one of the best beaches situated near by the capital Santa Cruz. The extraordinary thing about it, is the fact that its sand was importet directly from Sahara.
One of the latest attractions in northern part of Tenerife is the Lago Martianez and the Martianez Beach in Puerto de la Cruz, which is being developed and modernized since the end of year 2007. The beach offers perfect conditions for surfers.
