Traditional festival „romeria“ in Tegueste

Tenerife’s art, music or film festivals are famous all around the world. The unique combination of spectacular landscapes, live music, sunny weather and first of all the great fun is common for this island. Additionally, a lot of festivals promote folk and rural traditions. For example “romeria” festival is a well-known-way to honor different patron saints. It is a pilgrimage of folk music and traditional Canarian clothes and what is more, of colorful oxen-drawn carts. One of the most popular traditional “romeria” festivals takes place in Tegueste, a municipality of the northern part of Tenerife in Santa Cruz de Tenerife province. New home for modern art collection

A long-closed gallery of modern art has re-opened in the Tenerife resort of Puerto de la Cruz. The town's original Museum of Contemporary Art first opened way back in 1953. But it closed within a couple of years and the collection has been gathering dust in storage ever since. But a new home has been found for the works of art on the top floor of the town's old customs house, the Casa de la Real Aduana, overlooking the picturesque fishing harbour. The collection was put together by the artist and critic Eduardo Westerdahl and his French wife Maud Bonneaud, herself a noted artist, the surrealist Oscar Dominguez and architect Alberto Sartoris, with assistance from the Institute of Hispanic Studies.
