Tenerife’s art, music or film festivals are famous all around the world.

The unique combination of spectacular landscapes, live music, sunny weather and first of all the great fun is common for this island.

Additionally, a lot of festivals promote folk and rural traditions. For example “romeria“ festival is a well-known-way to honor different patron saints. It is a pilgrimage of folk music and traditional Canarian clothes and what is more, of colorful oxen-drawn carts.

The Great Tenerife Fireball

It happened nearly 12 years ago but people still recall it today – the Great Tenerife Fireball of 1995.

Thousands saw it, mostly in the east and north of the island, describing a brilliant fireball that flashed across the night sky shortly after 10pm.

It happened on Sunday May 7 and hundreds of people called the Canarian Institute of Astrophysics (IAC) seeking an explanation of the phenomenon.
